Yana Kudryavtseva already owns a record total of 13 World Championships titles and will try to defend her European all-around crown during the competition, which will end on Sunday (19th of June).

The three-time World All-around champion, who managed to acquire four gold medals at the Baku 2015 European games and is set to make her Olympic debut this summer, is recognized as the current queen of rhythmic gymnastics and is undeniably the top-performing gymnast of the rhythmic gymnastics discipline.

Competitors will have a difficult time trying to steal the European crown off of Kudryavtseva, but the Russian gymnast will surely face some serious competition over the course of the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.

Her Russian team mate Margarita Mamun, who holds a total of seven World Championships title, will compete in the European Championships as the gold medal favorite in the hoop discipline having won the event at the previous edition of the European Championships in Minsk last year.

The Russian team is the strongest competitor for the team title, as both Kudryavtseva and Mamun are expected to compete.

Belarusian rhythmic gymnast Melitina Staniouta will look forward to add a first-ever European gold medal to her collection as she managed to obtain five silvers and five bronze at the previous competitions since 2011. Ukraine’s Ganna Rizatdinova is also hoping to do the same.

“This is the largest Championship ever to take place,” the chairman of the Israel Gymnastics Federation, Ophir Pines-Paz, said.

“We have invested a great deal in order to host the Championship here in Holon and I am confident it will be an incredible one.”

Motti Sasson, the Mayor of Holon, added: “There were some who doubted our ability to accomplish this mission, but today I can say with absolute certainty that we have indeed succeeded.”

“We are sure to have an outstanding Championship and those who have questioned our keen investment in Rhythmic Gymnastics will cease to do so.”

The event, which will start later this day, will begin with the senior groups all-around final.
