Russian rhythmic superstar Yana Kudryavtseva successfully acquired the individual All-around title for the 2nd time in her gymnastics career at the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Holon.
The “Angel with Iron Wings” previously won the European all-around title at the 2014 European Gymnastics Championships in Baku, and despite not winning it on the European Games last year, the Russian rhythmic gymnast still managed to take home the gold at the European Games in Baku.
It is anticipated that the Russian superstar will face a great challenge against her teammate Margarita Mamun, but her ultimate rival for the All-around title lost her chances for gold after mistakenly dropping her hoop while performing her routine.
That mistake helped Kudryavtseva to easily dominate the competition, with the 18-year-old taking full control of the event by obtaining a total score of 76.082.
With a score of 75.632, Margarita Mamun settled for the silver medal behind her teammate Kudryavtseva.
The bronze medal was acquired by Ukraine’s Ganna Rizatdinova after she finished with 75.299 points, with Belarus’ Melitina Staniouta settling outside the podium with 73.715 points.
Russia had a tight competition against Belarus in the junior team competition but eventually the Russians still managed to win after scoring 101.031 points.
With a score of 100.373, the Belarusian team sat in the second place behind Russia, with Italy earning bronze with 98.983.
Polina Shmathko showed dominance in the individual junior events, after she posted the highest results in the qualification rounds of the ball event with a score of 16.983.
She then continued displaying dominance by reaching the clubs finals as the favorite after scoring 17.066, with her strongest rival Alexandra Agiurgiuclese of Italy obtaining 18.750.
