After clinching a total of five Olympic medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, American artistic gymnast Simone Biles plans to take a year off from gymnastics to ‘live in the moment’ and chill out.

After achieving historic feats at the 31st Olympic Summer Games in Rio, the 19-year-old gymnast really needs to enjoy a well-deserved break.

The gymnastics legend Simone Biles celebrated non-stop with her friends and family as soon as she got back from the Olympic Games. Then, she told about her plan to take a year off of the sport thereafter.

“I will be taking a year off, I think, just until everything settles down, because now we have photo shoots and other opportunities that will come our way. It will be really hard for us to be in and out of the gym and train very serious during this time period. So afterwards, then we’ll see.” She said in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

According to NBC, the 19-year-old gymnast will take part in the USA Gymnastics tour of shows from September 15 – November 13, so basically she isn’t taking a complete break from the sport, but rather taking a step back from her Olympian-level rigor. This gap year will allow Biles and the rest of Team USA to have more time doing other things such as hosting Saturday Night Live, or just unwind and take a break for a moment.

So far, it’s been a pretty wonderful ride for the Olympic champion since she returned home.  She’ll be on the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions for the next two and a half months, and after that, it’s time for her to enjoy her vacation.

“I always had one goal in mind – after championships, it was the Olympics, so that’s what drove me,” she explained. And now, “my next goal is to live in the moment and have fun, for now we’ll just have fun with life, I guess.”
