Today, World Ballet Day Live is back for its third-year of live performances broadcasted through the web so they could reach millions of viewers who are otherwise unable to watch ballet performances in person.

This year, the performances are going to be hosted by Facebook Live for the first time despite having streamlined online for several years. The show is estimated to be around 20 hours straight, starting from 1pm AEDT of October 4. It is said that this might just be the longest livestream the platform has ever hosted so far, and it will give a rare window into the real time happenings of rehearsals around the world.

Last year, the show was broadcasted via Youtube Live and drew 349,000 views, later gaining more than 2 million views worldwide. This year, the live broadcast would start from Melbourne to San Francisco and would feature rehearsals of five ballet groups who are going to give everyone a glimpse into the world of the ballet elite. Rehearsals for the productions of Swan lake, Nijinsky, Spartacus and Coppélia are going to be shown.

The first performer that would kickstart the show is The Australian Ballet, followed by The Bolshoi Ballet of Russia, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, and finally the San Francisco Ballet. Each company is going to have four hours of screen time each.

Aside from the five main companies, they have also invited a wide range of regional dance organizations geographically close to their location to be part of World Ballet Day Live. The following companies included are Hong Kong Ballet, Queensland Ballet, West Australian Ballet, English National Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Northern Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston Ballet, Boston Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, and Nederlands Dans Theater.
