Sleep, like other things our kids’ bodies need, is most of the time overlooked when talking about the factors that contributes to the success of our children in their chosen sports. When talking about health, also, most parents only think about what they feed their children or how much exercise their child does. What most of us parents do not realize is that the amount of time our children spend not exercising or training and is instead spent in sleeping is as important as everything else.
All over the world, no matter what the season is, toddlers are mostly spending their time strapped on car seats or plopped in front of the TV as we—their parents—get on with our busy schedules. This doesn’t help in their developing motor skills, nor does it help in strengthening their heart, muscles and lungs. This might also set them up for an inactive lifestyle and even obesity as adults, which is widespread in the US.
Just as women are afraid weightlifting will make them manly and muscular, parents often fear that weight and strength training might not be ideal and can cause harm to children. As a concerned parent, these reservations can be understandable, but it’s also critically important to set the record straight. In fact, strength training, when done properly, is practically safe and beneficial for young children.
Making a commitment with sports and fitness starts with finding the most appropriate sports club that perfectly fits your current lifestyle. However, finding the perfect sports academy is never an easy feat.
“You don’t win silver. You lose gold” – most sports fanatics might have already heard this message in an advertisement that was aired during the Atlanta Olympics. These kinds of messages, combined with those parents that pushes their children too hard makes children think that “winning is everything”, making it even harder to teach sportsmanship to children.
The El Salvador Gymnastics Federation hosted its first International Gymnastics Federation Academy since 2008. The Academy that was hosted this time was a Level 2 Academy for Rhythmic Gymnastics. It was held at the National Gymnastics Centre in the capital city of San Salvador on May 17-24, 2016.

Brazil, Germany, Belgium and France acquired the last four qualification spots for the Summer Olympic Games in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics at the Aquece Rio Test Event last Sunday, while Romania, the only team who managed to climb all the Olympic podiums since the time of Nadia Comaneci, failed to qualify for the Olympic Games.
